I’ve been wanting to implement a post listing layout that I’ve been planning for so long, luckily I just had enough time to update the front-end of the site and apply that layout I call “Wall”, which is just a new layout grid that prioritizes pictures than texts. I also added some feature to it for the visitor’s convenience; one is called “lazy loading” which makes the page load faster by only downloading/showing the image visible on view while scrolling, the result also brings a blur effect which I think is really cool. The other feature is “infinite scroll loading” where instead of clicking to next page to see the remaining older posts listing now you can just scroll down and see the next older posts added to the “Wall”. I know these features are somewhat common these days but I think my site was really outdated so I need to bring it to life a bit.
I also updated the video player bit on the “mobile suit” pages, as you know I use the “gundam.info” youtube videos as they have lots of cool videos for promotions, some anime series and ofcourse introduction of most if not all mobile suit in the entire gundam universe. The video is now silently auto plays in the background, but once you click on the play button it will expand to a full video, plays back to the start. I think its a really cool addition.
I’m not yet done with these site front-end updates, I only worked on the frontpage and yet I still got so many things in mind to add to it; like icons telling what type of posts are on the wall, as well as ability to click those icons to only show posts pertaining to that icon, make the sidebars follow you as you scroll, add some interesting texture to the background, work on the sub pages, etc.
Now, enough tech talk of the site front-end, as for the content you can see I published quite a mound load of posts in one bulk update, posts that have been sitting as “drafts” for a while now; new posts for the workshop (tools, supplies, parts), new hauls, and new model kits of course. Just bear with me though that some posts may lack some written texts in there but I will update them eventually.
