I wasn’t really a fan of mono-eyed mechas in the Gundam universe, but suddenly I started seeing their beauty as time passes. To my eyes, these mono eyed units always represented the villain roles and they are the necessary evil for the white lead Gundams to arise as heroes. Canonically though, all these mechs including gundams have nothing to do with good or evil, war itself will always be the evil in the stories.
But then again I just can’t pass the chance to collect Zakus, Goufs, or any other derivatives of the mono eyes mecha design in the Gundam universe, they are as good and attractive models to represent the bitterness and harshness of war.
